Hi and welcome to my page!
My main research interests lie in the domain of topological data analysis. After a one year post-doc at Inria’s DataShape team where I focused on generalization of persistent homology transforms, which can result in complete and efficient shape descriptors, in September 2025 I have started my Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) post-doc fellowship with José Oramas in the domain of topological deep learning. In particular, we aim to exploit persistent homology to characterize the intrinsic structures within decision boundaries and learned parameters of deep neural networks, that contribute to superior generalization.
I obtained a PhD in topological data analysis, and a PhD in operations research, at the University of Antwerp, under the supervision of respectively Steven Latré and Kenneth Sörensen, following a Msc in Pure Mathematics from KU Leuven, and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Tuzla.
From September 2021 to June 2022 I worked with Guido Montúfar and Nina Otter as a Fulbright visiting scholar at the UCLA Department of Mathematics.
Besides mathematics, I care about feminist, queer and anti-racist work, and love to hang out with my dog, travel, read and discuss books, see art, play (table-)tennis or floatfit. Most of all, in the last years, I spend a lot of time playing and thinking about roller derby.
