Hi and welcome to my page!
My main research interests lie in the domain of topological data analysis. In September 2025 I have started my Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) post-doc fellowship with José Oramas in the domain of topological deep learning. In particular, we aim to exploit persistent homology to characterize the intrinsic structures within decision boundaries and learned parameters of deep neural networks, that contribute to superior generalization.
Prior to this, I spent a year at Inria’s DataShape / Université Paris-Saclay’s Laboratoire de Mathématiques d’Orsay as a post-doc working with Nina Otter, focusing on generalization of persistent homology transforms, which can result in complete and efficient shape descriptors. I obtained a PhD in topological data analysis, and a PhD in operations research, at the University of Antwerp, under the supervision of respectively Steven Latré and Kenneth Sörensen, following a Msc in Pure Mathematics from KU Leuven, and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Tuzla.
In 2021/22 I worked with Nina and Guido Montúfar as a Fulbright visiting scholar at the UCLA Department of Mathematics. Currently, I am again visiting Guido, this time at Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences.
Besides mathematics, I care about feminist, queer and anti-racist work, and love to hang out with my dog, travel, read and discuss books, see art, play (table-)tennis or floatfit. Most of all, in the last years, I spend a lot of time playing and thinking about roller derby.
